To encourage the decorating of floats, the Jaycees will enforce that all parade entries be decorated. Any entry not decorated will be removed from the parade line-up at the discretion of the parade director. for more inoformation, download the complete rules and statement of understanding.
Parade officials will judge every parade entry. First place in each area of judging will receive a $400 cash prize and a recognition plaque placed on a traveling trophy. A runner-up plaque will also be awarded in each judging area. Categories for judging are:
The parade will be held on July 4. The first parade entry will depart from Dacotah Centennial Park at 9:30 a.m. The parade averages 275 entries, totaling well over individual 600 units. The parade route is 3 miles long extending through Main Street to 10th Avenue NW (the intersection of Main Street and Highway 6). Many parade entries will travel back to the staging area via 3rd Street S; total distance is 5 ¾ miles.
For more information, please email info@mandanparade.com or call 667-6303.
Parking on the entire length of Main Street will be prohibited from 1 a.m. on July 4 until after the parade is over later that afternoon. Vehicles parked on Main Street during this time will be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense.
The parade will leave from Dacotah Centennial Park at 9:30 a.m., proceeding to Memorial Highway and the entire length of Main Street.
Traffic in-bound from I-94 into Mandan will begin to be detoured from Main Street at 8:45 am. If you need to go south of Mandan for any reason, please arrange your travel plans to do so prior to 8:45 am to avoid time delays or inconvenience.
After the parade begins, traffic traveling to the north and/or south of Mandan will be extremely limited with the possibility of long time delays in your travel plans until the parade is over.
Mandan Avenue south of I-94 to Main Street (going past Ressler Chevrolet and Burger King) is under construction. If you are coming to Mandan to watch the parade, use the Mandan Avenue exit from I-94. Instead of turning south, proceed north and west on Old Red Trail, turn left or south on Collins Avenue to enter the city. Using the Sunset Drive exit from I-94 will also be a better option than coming into the city on East Main Street.
